Save the Children Poland has symbolically signed the Charter of Children's Rights in Business

The Charter of Children's Rights in Business is a new initiative in Poland, that intends to encourage business to take specific actions to protect children's rights throughout the enterprise value chain. It was initiated by the Responsible Business Forum in cooperation with companies and non-governmental organizations.

Intended to promote responsible employment, creating a workplace friendly to parents, and supporting them in reconciling social roles, it also raises issues of responsible sales and promotion of products and services addressed to children. In addition, it emphasizes special care when creating communication materials that use the child's image. The Charter obliges companies to introduce appropriate requirements for their suppliers, contractors, business, and social partners.

An inspiration for this initiative constitutes i.a. “The Children’s Rights and Business Principles” developed in 2012 jointly by UNICEF, UN Global Compact and Save the Children in consultation with children, businesses, investors, governments, civil society, trade unions, national human rights institutions, and United Nations entities. The Principles formed the very first comprehensive set of postulates to guide companies on the full range of actions they could take in the workplace, marketplace, and community to respect and support children’s rights.

We are glad that these Principles continue to inspire the private sector and help business representatives create a child-friendly environment.
